Standard Sizes in your Home

Two things I always keep in my purse: measuring tape and a list of measurements.

My list of measurements includes the sizes of my personal furniture, each room in my home, as well as standard sizes of other common household items. Here is the list of standard sizes that I have compiled over the years. You never know when the list will come in handy...especially when you are shopping.

Standard Sizes:

• Standard Dishwasher Size: 24" wide x 35" high
• Standard Side-by-Side Refrigerator Sizes: 32: wide x 99" high
• Standard Refrigerator with Bottom Freezer: 30" wide x 66" or 67" high
• Standard Refrigerator with Top Freezer: 28" wide x 61.5" high
• Standard Microwave Size: 19" wide x 10.5" high
• Standard Stove Size: 48" tall x 24" wide x 36" deep
• Standard Cabinet Sizes: Base cabinets - 24" deep, 34 1/2" tall, Upper cabinets - 12" deep and usually 30" or 42" tall
• Standard Island Height: 42”
• Standard Mantle Heights: 42-48”
• Standard Ceiling Heights 8’ or 10’
• Standard Curtain Sizes: 54”, 72” and 90” long and 46" , 66" , and 90" widths –
• Standard Door Sizes: range from 2’ 0” x 6’ 8” to 3’ 0” x 6’8”
• Standard Bar Stool Heights: 29” to 32”
• Standard Chair Height: 18-20”
• Standard Counter Height: 3 feet
• Standard Vanity height: 34" to 42" high
• Standard Twin Bed Size:: 36" wide x 75" long
• Standard Extra Long Twin Bed Size: 39" wide x 80" long
• Standard Full/Double Bed Size: 54" wide x 75" long
• Standard Queen Bed Size: 60" wide x 80" long
• Standard California Queen Bed Size: 60" wide x 84" long
• Standard King Size Bed: 76" wide x 80" long
• Standard California King: 72" wide x 84" long
